hunting season layout

hello!!

today i have a layout up on the Newton's Nook blog!
last weekend, we colored eggs with my nephew and sister-in-law, and it was SO fun, i knew i had to scrap it right away!

i stamped and watercolored the eggs from Beautiful Spring and then die cut some antlers using the Splendid Stags Dies! we're not a hunting family, but i thought that adding the antlers to the eggs was SO funny, because OF COURSE we hid the eggs for the kids to 'hunt' for!! ha!

i used some embossing paste and a stencil to add some white on white texture, and then stitching the sentiment and the clusters of eggs with my sewing machine!

I used lots of random ephemera and scraps of patterned paper to layer behind my photo strip! LOVE the pops of bright colors, just like our eggs! :)

hope this made you smile! be sure to head over to the Newton's Nook Designs blog to keep up with the latest and greatest news!  :)
enjoy!

my doilies were watercolored with Distress Inks (Cracked Pistachio and Iced Spruce)!! yes!! first I applied some clear gesso. and once it was dry, I just smooched them in the ink! sooooo fun!

i used one under my title, and one under my photo! I also used some embossing paste and a stencil to create a little texture around the photo. love the layers and the stitching!!

hello and happy Sweet Stamp Shop release day!
today I have a lot of images to share, so let's get to it! :)

this release is SO CUTE, so patriotic, and SO fun!!
I feel like there's something for everyone here!!!

my first card uses that ADORABLE little sailor!! awww!!!

I used some Distress Inks and created a sort of, sunset sky! The anchor is on the bottom near the sentiment, and I think it's so sweet, and I bet there are a lot of sailor's wives who would agree with that phrase!

my 2nd card uses my FAVORITE image from the release: the pilot!!!!

he's ADORABLE!!! EEEEK!!!! I'm in love!! ha ha!!
I used a cloud die cut as a mask, and did some Distress Ink blending to create the clouds and grass! I just LOVE that green and blue together!!

my last card is for all the special Grandma's out there!

so sweet, right? I colored the image and then stamped and colored the image AGAIN! that allowed me to cut out the bow and some of the flowers and pop them up for dimension!! the sentiment was heat embossed and the background was just stamped repeatedly in a light grey ink!

I hope you all enjoyed this AWESOME release!!
be sure to get it here!

Newton's Nook Designs April Release - Simply Relative

hello again!
we're right in the middle of Newton's Nook Designs April release!!

I am not kidding when I tell you that i'm in LOVE with this month's release! every item is adorable, and so unique!!
today the whole team is showing off the Simply Relative! this set is PERFECT for adding the perfect, special sentiment for your card!
you can totally use these to scrapbook, create a project life type spread, gift tags and, of course, cards! all of the new sets will be available for purchase on April 14th, right here!

for my first card, i combined some of the other sets in this release with a few of the awesome phrases you can make with this set!

you haven't seen it yet, but this card features a few of the tiny butterflies from the new set being featured TOMORROW! SO sweet! I colored them with the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and then die cut them out.

the banner was made with white cardstock and Distress Ink, which I just applied with the packaging technique.
the background of the card was stamped with the leaves from the Lovely Blooms stamp set in a light grey ink.
I also added some embossing paste in the shape of butterflies randomly on the card, for some texture.

for my 2nd card, well...my Mother-In-Law needs a card for Mother's Day, too! ha!

I used a piece of computer paper as a mask, and did some light ink blending with my Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide Ink. Then I stamped some of the floral images from the Cottage Garden stamp set in the same ink!

i sprinkled some water on top, and then once it was all dry, I heat embossed that perfect sentiment and added some sequins to finish it off.

Newton's Nook Designs April Release - Beautiful Plumage + coordinating Die

hello, and what a wonderful day it is!
today is kicking off the Newton's Nook Designs April release!!

I am not kidding when I tell you that i'm in LOVE with this month's release! every item is adorable, and so unique!!
today the whole team is showing off the Beautiful Plumage + coordinating Die! the new die set is SOOOOOO cool!! when i saw the peacocks i couldn't stop smiling!! I LOOOOOVE this new addition to the 'quilling' theme of sets!
you can totally use these to scrapbook, create a project life type spread, gift tags and, of course, cards! all of the new sets will be available for purchase on April 14th, right here!

i seriously LOVE these peacock images!! and my first card uses watercolors!

after i stamped the image in black ink, i used Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers to add the color.  and then with a super wet paintbrush, i pulled the colors down and out to the bottom right corner of the card!

afterwards, i sprinkled it with some white acrylic paint and added lots of coordinating enamel dots in various sizes. i also stitched with my sewing machine along the top of the card!

for my 2nd card, I went with some cool colors in a less messy way!

it's hard to see, but i used a circle stencil and some embossing paste to add some texture behind the peacock. then i die cut the side of the card with the Land Borders Die set! love that is shows a little peek of the stamped plumage on the side!! soooo pretty!

I added some sparkling clear sequins to the card and then heat embossed the sentiment onto a strip of black cardstock! SO MUCH FUN!
